Thing I should/could do as a ranger
hi all,
I have been playing gw for about 3 years now here and there. with a couple of breaks
Now that I'm close to finishing my legendary survivor ranger, I would like to know the most fun things to do nowadays as a rangers
On my previous ranger I loved :
-doing tombs Barrager pet, not for the drops. but I just really liked it.
- Fow solo R/Mes with mantra of lighting
-I also enjoyed grawl bombing with MoP and Urgoz barrager pet
But people don't do that anymore?
So i was wondering where rangers are useless (read: cool to play)
not like VS-farm to place spirits (BORING)
or FOWsc to place spirits (BORING)
PS i wish they put some new skinned greenies (trough an art contest) in tombs with interupt signets/incubus/traps/..
so that B/P groups could revive
Cheers

i have to agree with majik, try and plug away at the titles. Even though they can be a bit of a grind, once you get truckin its kinda fun to see what progress you make along the way.
I have switched to ranger as my main money maker farmin with the spirit spammer builds. BUT it is kinda boring .. 1,2,3,4,5 wait wait wait repeat.
Yea upon further review the play stands as called!!!!

There are a few ranger farms available:
FoW Forest
Totem Axe
Gates Of Kryta
Stygian Veil
Rihlon Refuge
Raptors
Touch Farmer
Spirit Farmer
In terms of group farms, rangers usually end up being some rappy spirit support role, which is rather boring.
I would suggest going for some titles that take your fancy, maybe try a few different farms, or head off and do some PvP, and then decide where to go from there.

rangers can raptor farm, along with solo FoW forest with a variety of builds and solo trap smites in UW. They can also farm nicholas gifts fairly effectively with the spirit spamming build and farm feathers as well.
as far as groups go, rangers can play a support type role with spirits in certain specific builds, or can opt for AoE damage with splinter barrage. When I discordway, I personally play a hex/condition spammer with melandru's arrows and asuran scan that's pretty effective.
it's very hard to be a "good" ranger in pvp, as a lot of it depends on your FPS and internet connection (for the most effective interrupts) and your reflexes. It's kinda one of those things you either can do very well or you completely suck at.

well im a ranger, played her for 4 years now and mainly pve.....just started FoW forest farming for the first time---its fun for me.....stygan trapping is funny but gets old, uw smite trapping gets old, UW trapping with fiends is way better
you can feather farm with ranger in Bluffs---however u use like no ranger skills....
support roles which u already know....boring but fun with the right groups
im with you though Tombs B/P was the bomb and i wish it was still around.......
other than that i just play the game now for titles which i like cause im casual player
good luck with your ranger hope you enjoy the class

I got bored in the ranger class and made a new pve char. As perma's are like ''the shizle'' atm i kinda enjoy permaing more then playing ranger now. My main was my ranger tho but as they still havnt updated the areas or skills (rangerwise) im not bothered turning my head from my sin...
in other words rangers are a dieing class, along with a few others.
600hp's and perma's is the pretty much the only thing u will encounter in pve. altough some people got ele or rt600hp but this requires a decent brain and skill knowledge.

Sounds to me like your idea of "fun" falls along the line of "what gets into farming groups." If that's the case, more power to you, but that says more about you than the class.
As for not updating the skills, what about the recent major pet buff and bar compression (though it really doesn't make sense that Heal As One didn't get the comfort animal buff too).

Rangers are not a "dieing[sic] class." They have a place in many of the group farms, even if it isn't exciting (and it isn't), and they can still kick large amounts of ass in non-farming situations, if you know how to play them.
